Week two: Day 5 Say what now????
Can two weeks really have gone by this fast?
I'm moping around a bit today because some of my new friends aren't coming back next week.
I hate goodbyes!
There are 3 weeks of landscape certifications. You can come all at once or divide them up in the manner that best suits.
So every week the classroom chemistry changes.
Anyhow, I'm pretty sure I've already made lifelong friends, so I should stop being a sad sally.
Today was fun! We did a monochrome painting, which I LOOOOVE! I love using a limited palette because it pushes you to focus on values which results in a lovely outcome.
I've been saving the leftover paint from my palette all week and I'm sure you can guess what color I ended up with when I mixed it all together?
That's right! The green sludge that you find in the bottom of your thinner bucket.
Well, I happen to find this "Olive Drab" to be a gorgeous color. So while everyone else used Mountain Mix and titanium white, I used sludge and titanium white.
Honestly, I think any color can be used to this effect and turn out stunning!
Remember, I've only been painting in this medium since January of this year, and even though I prepared as much as I could for these classes, I am still having many "first time" lessons.
This painting had many firsts for me. It was a bit challenging because it was our afternoon painting and my brain was fried by then. But here you go.
I'm going to paint with Faye on CRI Friday tonight, so I'll probably share that tomorrow.
Next week will bring many more challenges. I can't wait!
I'll leave you with this sweet T shirt for now....

DeleteI like sludge and white, that looks good together. I also like water falls, they can be calming. Have fun tonight and you have a very relaxing weekend, my dear girl.
